Visual-Motor performance, accommodation, anticipation & concentration training. Pilot Study: St. Petersburg College Baseball

10/07/2014, 1:15pm EDT
By Dr. Josh Cooper, Vincent A. Lodato, Wm. Truman Williams III

Dr. Josh Cooper and Vince Lodato are studying the "extent to which visual accommodation, anticipation, and concentration can be both learned over time and practiced prior to the execution of the performance act of baseball batting" (Cooper et. al). The subjects of this study are the members of the St. Petersburg Community College baseball team.

"This study shall strive to elucidate the functional capacity for which a subset of visual-motor learning and training exercises can be employed, in vivo, to increase the effectiveness of an athlete's ability for visual concentration, anticipation, and accommodation performance" (Cooper et. al).

The St. Petersburg Community College baseball team will be utilizing the same training techniques that we offer here in the Mental and Vision Performance Lab at Cooper Sports Performance and Rehab.

Stay tuned for the results of this study!
